Kaki Jo
The obituary was lovingly written by her husband, Greg:
On Friday, August 16, 2024, the soul of our beloved Kaki Jo Staiger was suddenly and unexpectedly set free from its earthly bond and soared high and well beyond us mortal beings. She has moved onward to be with our Lord and so many others.
Kaki, (or also Kaki Jo) was born Karin Johanne Lutjiens on July 25th, 1964. She was the daughter of Bernhard Jacob Lutjiens and Renate Magarete Magdalene Pohl. Her family came to the US from Holzdorf, Germany when Kaki was about 5 years old.
She is survived by her husband Greg Staiger; mother Renate Pohl and her husband Emile; son Zack Burton and his wife Michaelee and their son (her grandson) Carter; and Kaki’s youngest son, Colt Burton. She is survived also by her sister, Beate Pohl and her son T-Jay; sister Alexis Pohl and her husband Liam. She has many other relatives, in-laws, friends and acquaintances living in the US as well as many abroad.
Kaki was an honest soul. She projected such a positive image. Her smile was warm and genuine. She had a great sense of humor and was a humanitarian. She spread joy and happiness to so many. A kindred spirit for sure.
She and Greg, her husband of 9 years, lived in their rural Spotsylvania home with their Frenchie, Ollie. They were inseparable and lived what they felt to be a perfect life. A simple life, rich with deep, honest, unconditional love, respect, admiration, adoration, romance, passion and much humor and laughter.
Home was her favorite place, but she also loved drives for no reason and with no planned destination. Kaki loved spur of the moment trips and mini vacations. She loved bright bold colors. She loved sushi and pink champagne. Kaki collected old travel clocks, old cameras, and she loved her Russian Nesting Doll collection. She was a photographer, a jewelry maker, a student of the ukelele and dabbled in watercolor painting. Kaki had a flair for all things “hippie” and loved to wear colorful clothing. She loved mid-century modern decor. She had oodles of bold, bright happy reading glasses and wore a different pair nearly every day.
Kaki’s working passions were her internet-based retail jewelry and clothing resale businesses. Through these businesses her personality and demeanor allowed her to grow a large number of friends and followers that loved her. She also provided local delivery service for groceries and sundries for her community. She was truly an entrepreneur.
Kaki was a Moose lodge member and belonged to many internet communities. She loved people and they loved her. She was so much more than could ever completely be conveyed here.
Kaki was happy in her life. And she spread this happiness to many, many people. We will all truly miss her. Fly high Kaki and continue to let your light and beauty to shine through us all.

Kaki Jo
She was taken from us much to soon. She was supposed to out-live all of us.

The memorial was this past Saturday and over 40 people attended. It was good to see so many relatives and friends pay tribute.
I still can’t wrap my head around her passing.
