Looks Like It’s Cooling Down, Wednesday 8/27/25

I think the 80-degree days are over. I’m such a happy camper!! Texas seems to be cooling down a bit, too. Although I have loved my time here, I will be glad to go home.

I’m also excited about finally obtaining my Texas driver’s license, as I now have the necessary paperwork to get it done.

One of the things that has been getting on my last nerve ever since I started full-timing is blacking out the windshield at night and during the heat of the day. I do have a curtain, but I can’t use it during the day because the Velcro glue melts on the glass. I also have one of those silver inserts, which does not cover the entire windshield, no matter how I position it. I’ve just about tried everything.

Now I’m trying out a cover that goes on the outside of the windshield. It took a while to find one that was not black. I sure don’t need something that’s going to generate more heat. This cover does not fit completely; the side mirrors won’t fit inside it, but that’s okay. The coverage is pretty good.

I will see tonight how much light is still seen from the inside once it gets dark.

Supposedly, this is a Prickly Pear Cactus. There was a ton of them growing on Liz and my hike near the campground the other day. I’ve seen these in stores for $10 to $20 each. We could be rich!! LOL

I’m really loving my Alpicool fridge/freezer, even though I have to cut my egg cartons in half to make them fit. No big deal, I can live with that.

Tomorrow morning, Liz will take me on another hike. This time to Penitente Canyon. I can’t wait. Liz will pick me up at 6:15 a.m. I even have my very own backpack.
