08.29.24 Two Week Update

It’s been two weeks since I became house-less and started living in my 2023 Toyota Sienna. It’s been a long time coming!!!

It did take a while to get used to a totally different routine and to get into a seamless groove. I have it down pat now.

There are a lot of things that I need to remember to do before I lock up for the night. They have to be in order, to keep me from jumping in and out of the van.

The first thing that I do is cover all the windows except the windshield so that no one can peak inside the rear.

The AC/120V button that turns on the 1500 watt inverter that came with this Sienna.

I then climb back in the driver’s seat and turn on the 1500 watt inverter that came installed in this Sienna. It powers my lights in the back, my laptop, and my coffee maker.

That’s the 2000 watt EcoFlow generator with the EcoFlow alternator charger on top.

My fridge/freezer is on 24 hours a day and is plugged into the generator which is kept charged by the alternator charger, on top, while the van is running. Because my air fryer consumes more that 1500 watts, I also keep it plugged in the generator.

Faraday Bag for Key Fob. Car RFID Signal Blocking.

I have to put my key fob into a Faraday Bag, so that I can lock the van from the inside once I’m ready for sleep.

Leaving the Sienna on for more than one hour.

Then I change the settings so that the van doesn’t cut off after an hour of idling. I have forgotten to do this a couple of times and had to scramble out of the back to stop the annoying beeps and set it to keep on running through the night. I’m so glad I had that center console removed where I can walk up front or back without leaving the van.

Then I cover the dash lights with a towel. You used to be able to cut off all the lights, but not anymore. You can dim them, but you can’t turn them off. The screen can be turned off though.

Then I put my back pack in the driver seat and move that seat forward as far as it goes for more space in the back.

I then move the toilet behind that seat. That I will use as a table for my laptop.

After that, it’s the nightly ritual we ladies go through before going to bed. When that is taken care of I put up my black-out curtain behind the front seat and I’m ready to sleep….like a baby!!

At 4:30 AM I do the same only backwards. Make my bed. Get my clothes ready for work. Dispose of any trash in the dumpster. Make some coffee and then at 5:30 it’s off to the gym for a nice hot shower. At 6:15 and I’m ready to walk into work.

  1. sounds like it’s going well. I thought if you locked the doors from inside it stopped it from shutting off. Take care, Sheila Y
